New Pediatrics of Florence Financial Policy Starting July 1st

Medical ChecklistDue to the ever changing insurance plans/ policies and the growing costs associated with those plans/policies, we are instituting a new office policy beginning July 1, 2014.

High Deductible Insurance Plans

If you have a high deductible insurance plan, you will be required to make a payment $50 per child at the time of your child’s visit.  For example, If Bobby has an appointment you would need to pay $50. If Bobby and Sally both have appointments you will need to pay $100 at the time of service.  You will be billed for the balance due that is determined by your insurance company.

This payment will be due regardless of who brings the child to the appointments, so please make any necessary arrangements. If you are sending your child with a grandparent or another caretaker, please make sure you send the payment with them or call to make the payment over the phone before your child’s scheduled appointment time so as not to delay their visit. We do understand that in some situations custody agreements dictate who is responsible for medical balances. This is the responsibility of the parent or guardian to organize and make arrangements before the visit. Pediatrics of Florence’s primary goal is to provide the best possible medical care for your child. We do not want to have to act as a collection agency.

Well Child Preventative Care Visits Do Not Apply To The New High Deductible Insurance Policy
This type of payment will not be collected on Well Child Preventative care visits. The majority of these insurance companies pay for these visits in full.  It is extremely important that you educate yourself on your insurance plan and its coverage. You should know if you have a copay or deductible. Are your child’s well care and immunizations covered at 100%? Will your flu vaccine be covered this year? Do you have to have a primary care physician listed with your insurance company?  Do you have a maximum benefit for well care per year? Can you go to Children’s hospital or St Elizabeth? Is your insurance accepted at both? These are just a few things that are important to be aware of.

Copays

If your insurance plan requires a copay this is also due at the time of service.  There is a $10 billing fee for any copay not paid at the time of service and there must be arrangements made prior to your child’s visit.

Self-Pay / No Insurance

If you are without insurance and are self- pay, payment in full is due at the time of service.

We are happy to answer any questions that you may have regarding this new policy.  We look forward to continuing to care for your family and hope this is an easy transition for everyone.
